Giving Back to the Community
SaskCentral has always been dedicated to strengthening the community of Regina where we live and work. We share our financial success and put our co-operative values into practice by contributing to the people, culture and quality of life in our city.
In 2008, SaskCentral will donate over $200,000 to local programs, events and organizations in an effort to build a better community.
The 2008 SaskCentral Corporate Citizenship Program supports:
SaskCentral Queen City Marathon

Canadian Red Cross “Beyond the Hurt” Bullying Program
The “Beyond the Hurt” program makes young people aware of the devastating impact of bullying and teaches them ways to react when bullying affects their world. The Red Cross trains “Bully Prevention Teams” in schools or districts. Each team consists of a teacher, administrator, two or three youth and a parent or community member. The team receives extensive training as well as the tools, resources and support needed to deliver the program. Our contribution will enable the Red Cross to train five “Bully Prevention Teams” at inner city and/or community schools in Regina.
Street Culture Kidz
Street Culture Kidz provides a variety of programs that encourage at-risk children, youth and young adults to strengthen their personal skills and make positive life choices. Street Culture is launching a new program called Doors Open Community Success (DOCS). The purpose of the program is to provide a home environment for at-risk female youth ages 14 to 20 who have no place to live. Each home will become a permanent residence for a supervising parent/guardian and a maximum of five youth. Two homes are scheduled to open in April 2008. Our contribution will help provide programming to the youth living in a home built by the DOCS program.
